ecobee, the Canadian home automation company just released a couple of new thermostats. ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium and Smart Thermostat Enhanced are introducing a redefined design preserving ecobee’siconic style.

Both new smart thermostats Premium and Enhanced utilize quality materials and advanced engineering to bring radar built in the devices, being this ecobee’s most advanced sensor technology to date; this will provide an improved occupancy and motion detection, a refreshed user experience and a brand new larger display will make these thermostats easier to use.

A new redesign that is shown beautifully

Smart Thermostat Premium and Smart Thermostat Enhanced packed an impressive glass face and rounded edges that create a modern look and feel. ecobee’s new radar technology is able to detect motion and occupancy from a larger distance compared to older devices; this also improves energy-saving capabilities.

The new display is 50% larger than previous models and brags a more colorful and vibrant resolution, the redefined user interface accentuates ecobee’s “squircle” shape and facilitates navigation. A bigger temperature slider makes adjusting the temperature a breeze, and a more organized menu layout helps users discover and interact with new features.

Smart Thermostat Enhanced

This new smart thermostat is packed with a lot of features, built-in occupancy radar, automatic temperatures adjusting when you are sleeping to keep the home comfortable, Pre-cools or Pre-heats before your arrival, perfect to have the house temperature ready for the moment you walk in, works with available SmartSensor to adjust the temperature accordingly by detecting which rooms are being used. All these features are enclosed in a sleek and modern plastic enclosure with a refined user experience.

Smart Thermostat Premium

The company’s new flagship smart thermostat comes with a great combination of functionality and design. It has all the same features as the Smart Thermostat Enhanced, plus much more. It is the only smart thermostat that has both an indoor air quality monitor and an embedded smart speaker, with Siri or Alexa built-in as choices for assistants, all this surrounded by a zinc body. 

The flagship ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium increases functionality and can help with the overall health inside the home with its built-in Air Quality Monitor. The smart thermostat display can show important data about the indoor air quality around it, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs), estimated carbon dioxide (CO2) levels, and relative humidity in the area. Ecobee will alert customers through the app when the indoor air quality is poor and it will provide tips on how to improve it.

Inside the box, Smart Thermostat Premium will come with ecobee’s signature SmartSensor, which can be placed anywhere throughout the home to detect motion and more accurate reading of the occupancy and temperature where the SmartSensor is located to help manage hot and cold spots.

ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium ($249.99 USD) and ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced ($189.99 USD) are available to purchase on ecobee.com, through select retail partners including Amazon, Lowe’s, Home Depot, and Best Buy. ecobee3 lite is available for $149.99 USD.

ecobee is dedicated to maintaining an open ecosystem, and like all the latest ecobee products, the new smart thermostats are compatible with Alexa, Apple HomeKit, Google Assistant, SmartThings, and IFTTT. ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium can be controlled by built-in Alexa or Siri.
